I've been writing my new set of booklets on font design. I started with the type classification section — it needs to be radically expanded to be of any use to my new apprentice.
Anyway, I decided to put some of my favorite fonts in the sidebar as I got started. What surprised me was that the first three I thought of as favorite fonts, Corinthian, Romic, and Italia, were all done by the same person. I wasn't really even aware of him, Colin Brignall, the type director for Letraset (the makers of all the presstype I used in the 1980s).
It was a pleasant surprise to put a name with the fonts that shaped my taste so many years ago. Now I know enough to see how similar they are. Back then, all I knew was that I liked them.

I like Michael Gills' designs from Letraset. Probably Brignall played a significant role.
I agree. I find I miss the excitement of the latest Letraset releases -- back in the day when they were a big deal and great new fonts were rare.
